Property Valuation and Review
Property Valuation and Review deals with property tax assessment and administration. Most of its major functions are carried out through contact with Vermont municipalities rather than individual property owners. The division administers a Use Value Appraisal program for farm buildings, agricultural land and managed forest land. The division is also responsible for the assessment of railroads and freightline equipment companies. The division includes the Vermont Mapping Program, which provides orthophotographic base maps for property mapping and planning.
The division also helps provide and support a Computer Assisted Appraisal Program (CAMA/CAPTAP) used by local Vermont listers to estimate values for property tax purposes.
Other taxes administered by Property Valuation and Review include: Property Transfer, Land Gains, Real Estate Withholding.
