Language and Interpretation Services

Request Free Translation Services, an Interpreter, or Reasonable Accommodation

The Vermont Department of Taxes is committed to providing equitable access to our services for individuals with disabilities. This includes those who are Deaf or hard of hearing or have dual sensory loss, as well as those with limited English-speaking, reading, writing, or comprehension abilities.

Request an Interpreter or Translation

If English is not your primary language or you have a limited ability to read, speak, write, or understand English, you have a right to an interpreter. The Vermont Department of Taxes will provide you with an interpreter to help you navigate Vermont taxes and programs.

Request for Reasonable Accommodation

Taxpayers can request reasonable accommodations in advance online, by telephone, in writing, or in person during their appointment. In the lobby of our building and on our website, we post information about interpreter services, a Language Identification Card, and an ‘I Cannot Hear You’ sign in a visible place.

We strive to make the accommodation request process as accessible and convenient as possible for all individuals.
