The Vermont Department of Taxes seeks a detail-oriented content creator with strong communication and organizational skills who can handle multiple projects while balancing priorities. This role involves creating engaging and informative content for a wide range of audiences that significantly expands awareness of Vermont tax policies, programs, services, and resources using clear writing and plain language best practices. This position will actively work on updating and creating new web content, reports, newsletters, fact sheets, direct communications, guides, brochures, emails, articles, and social media posts, ensuring that content adheres to the state brand standards and is accessible. Additionally, this role will conduct research, organize responses to inquiries, and collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accurate and consistent content.
Tax Compliance Officer II, III, IV

The primary role of the Tax Compliance Officers is to collect unpaid taxes on behalf of the state via phone, or otherwise. We strive to educate taxpayers to promote and achieve voluntary compliance; ensuring all information provided to the public is accurate and in alignment with the Departments mission and core values. Tax Compliance Officers arrange formal payment agreements, propose settlements, and when appropriate, waive selected penalties. Other tasks performed: include but are not limited to the establishment of personal liability and initiating bank/wage garnishment orders and property liens.
